July 8, 2010 Fluid Thursday Night Tournament |
|
When I arrived at the lake for the Thursday night Fluid tournament at Headquarters I had decided not to ski, I was only going to judge...it had been a long, rough day at work. I was the video judge for the last half of the 1st round. The 2nd round started with Open Men jump and I was scheduled as the boat judge for that event. Well, if watching the Open guys jump from the boat won't get you excited about jumping nothing will. I got out of boat with about 4 skiers left before my turn. With about 2 skiers before me, I finally decided to jump. It was a great decision. My first jump was 210' (63.9m) a new Personal Best by 13' off of a 5.5' ramp and a new pending Masters Men National record. |

July 7, 2010 Jacks Wednesday Night Tournament |

For a few Wednesday afternoons during the summer Sunset Lakes in Okahumpka, Florida will have small tournaments. They have decided this year to make a few of them record. I decided to slalom and trick in the event last night and it was a good decision. There was a bit of a tailwind off the dock for your opening pass which for me meant that if I got through 38 I would have a 39 headwind....perfect. Well, 38 wasn't so perfect but I made it. Jon Travers, my boat judge was actually laughing and said theres no way I'm running 39 the same way I ran 38. He was right. I never had a really great turn at 39 but I never had a horrible turn either, just kept skiing and completed the pass for the first time in a tournament. I actually turned 1 ball at 41 well enough to get to 2 but just short pulled and couldn't get around it. Happy to say that monkey is finally off my back. |
